Full Job Description

Cantium is seeking a Senior Desktop Support Engineer to join our Regional Support Team.

This role involves providing proactive and reactive IT support for all Cantium Business Solutions local authority customers. As the Senior Desktop Support Engineer, you will be responsible for responding to user requests for support through remote tools and hands-on triage, ensuring timely resolution or escalation to the Desktop Support Manager.

This role may require some field-based IT support, so a valid UK driving license, DBS check and access to your own vehicle may be necessary.,

  • Finding and fixing hardware problems with computers, laptops, and printers to guarantee best use of resources

  • Diagnosing and resolving operating system / software application issues

  • Maintain proactive estate monitoring to make sure problems are resolved before they become major issues


  • Quickly address and resolve all client concerns, guaranteeing excellent support and compliance with predetermined service standards


  • Supports the creation of a functional interface between customers and service providers, including, when appropriate, outside vendors. This interface comprises incident documentation, progress monitoring, and making sure all diagnostic data is supplied for incident analysis and error correction

  • For all products, services, and systems within the area of responsibility, demonstrates, installs, and commissions desktop systems and their routine upgrades. Provides information on updates, known errors, changes in availability, new facilities

    4 - 5 years experience working in a relatable role

  • Expert in customer service techniques for ensuring that full account is taken of customers' real and stated needs in the delivery of IT services

  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems to diagnose issues

  • In depth knowledge of laptop and desktop hardware diagnostics /repair

  • Knowledge of network troubleshooting, Ethernet and IP configuration

  • In depth knowledge of the IT infrastructure (hardware, databases, operating systems, local area networks etc) and the IT applications and service processes used within own organisation Analytical thinker with a keen eye for detail
