Full Job Description

As an apprentice TA at Woodbridge your day will be spent supporting children with Special Needs and Disabilities so that they can access the full curriculum and make good progress in all areas at school. This is a rewarding role where you will promote the learning and welfare of students by providing practical and learning support to students, including those with statements of special educational needs. This could include:

  • Supporting individual children and sometimes small groups to access their learning using adaptations and plans provided by the class teacher

  • Supporting children with their behaviour in line with the school's positive behaviour policy and the child's individual plan. Understanding that behaviour can be the communication of a child's needs and that we need to respond to that supportively so that they can learn and develop

  • Meeting with parents and family members and building positive, respectful and trusting relationships with them

  • Building a positive relationship with children and have a genuine passion for aspiration and inclusivity

  • Supporting children's play at playtimes and lunchtimes and coaching them through any tricky situations

  • Preparing resources as directed by the classteacher or SEND coordinator

  • Attending and engaging in staff training as required

  • Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours to enable you to enter gateway for the End Point Assessment

  • Functional Skills at Level 2, English, Maths, if required, Communication skills, IT skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Customer care skills, Problem solving skills, Team working, Creative, Initiative, Non judgemental, Patience, Positivity, Can do attitude, Passion for helping children, GCSE or equivalent English (Grade A-C or 9-4) Desired

  • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade A
  • -C or 9-4) Desired, In line with the school's Safeguarding requirements, the successful candidate will require an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
