Full Job Description

  • Planning, management and co-ordination of projects/contracts in order to meet the required project specifications and objectives.

  • Manage risks and resolve conflicts or issues which may have an adverse effect on the completion of projects.

  • Monitor and periodically report project status and costs against original milestones/budgets, introducing recovery plans where required.

  • Keep close control of project scope. Identify and address scope changes at the earliest opportunity.

  • Using SABB's gated New Product Introduction process, plan, schedule and control projects from initial kick-off through development, manufacture, qualification and ongoing in service support to ensure customer requirements are fulfilled

  • Lead regular project meetings and subsequently provide the customer with detailed status reports.

  • Flexibility to attend, sometimes at short notice, customer meetings and related events to promote the company and address any pertinent opportunities or issues.

  • Manage project teams internally to SABB as well as external suppliers/subcontractors and communicate with customers on project status.

  • Ensure that Customer Service levels in terms of timely response and accuracy of information provided meets project requirements and positively enhances the Company's image.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and ensure Project Management Plans are maintained effectively; ensuring awareness of potential interdependencies with other projects.

  • Adopting and applying appropriate technical and quality strategies and standards.

  • Conduct lessons learned activities throughout the project lifecycle and lead the implementation of improvements.

  • Maintain a high standard of Health and Safety based upon safe working practices and support environmental initiatives.

  • Support for business strategy and departmental goals and objectives.

  • Assist with the progress chasing and expediting of supplier and sub-contractor deliveries.

  • Provide cover and support for departmental and other related activities.

  • Ensure that all work activities and records comply with Company Policies, Procedures and Codes of Practice.

  • Active involvement in continuous improvement and lean activities.

    Experience in the design and development of new /modified products in a highly regulated industry.

  • Experience in the design and development of metallic ducting systems/components or thin wall sheet metal products.

  • Experienced in leading product development and qualification test programmes.

  • Experience of Developing products within the Aerospace industry.


  • Qualifications & Training
  • Degree/HNC/HND in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.


  • Job related skills & abilities

    Essential
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers including customer liaison.

  • Basic understanding of CAD systems (CAITA or Autodesk Inventor)

  • New Product Introduction Process Principles (AS9745, APQP)

  • Cost estimating
