Porter | Customer Service, Manual Handling | Full Time, 37.5hrs p/week | Permanent Contract | £11.48 p/hour + Unsocial Enhanced Pay | Shifts Vary Between 06:30am - 12:00am | Norwich | Driving Licence ESSENTIAL | Free Parking | Excellent Benefits |, Spire Norwich Hospital have an exciting opportunity to bring on a Porter to join their established team on a full time, permanent basis. The purpose of the role is to deliver an efficient and professional portering service to all patients, staff and customers, by working as part of the porter team. The successful candidate would need to demonstrate a positive attitude and approach to customer service in order to deliver and exceed the high standards of service expected by hospital users, and will need to respond to all ADHOC requests in an efficient and timely manner.,

  • Transport and support patients for discharge to the front of the hospital, assisting patients into vehicles as required.

  • Assist with escorting patients on admission to the relevant ward, assisting with luggage if required.

  • Transport patients for x-rays and to other areas as required.

  • Collection and removal of waste from wards and other designated areas. Waste to include general waste to be taken to the skip and clinical waste to be taken to clinical waste store.

  • Collection and removal of dirty laundry from the wards to be taken to the dirty laundry store.

  • Assist with storage of deliveries to main stores, including fluids.

  • Delivery of supplies to Hill House and Medical Centre, and other departments as required.

  • Keep car parks and hospital grounds tidy and litter free.

  • Assist in keeping car parks in a safe condition in inclement weather by the distribution of sand and grit or by assisting with snow/ice clearing.

  • Drive hospital vehicle to deliver and collect specific items and blood products to and from local hospitals, medical centres, and laboratories.

  • Ensure that a thorough security check is made to all areas of the hospital, Hill House and Medical Centre when working a late shift, reporting any incidences to the appropriate personnel.

  • When working at weekends ensuring specific duties as outlined on the weekend schedule are completed and recorded, including monthly wheelchair checks.

  • In the event of a fire alarm being sounded carry out specific portering duties.

  • Responding to pager in a timely manner and in the event of a cardiac arrest call carry out specific portering duties.

  • Sort incoming mail and place in department mailboxes.

  • Frank and sort outgoing post.

  • Set up of the conference room for meetings and seminars, as required.

  • Ad hoc requests including, but not limited to, moving and dismantling of furniture, moving files, moving beds, transportation of items.

  • Other duties as requested by your line manager or SMT member.

    Full clean driving licence as driving will be included as part of the role duties.

  • Previous experience in customer facing environment.

  • Proven ability to prioritise workload.

  • A good team player with the initiative to work independently.
