Who are the NDA and Energus?

Energus manage, on behalf of the NDA and wider nuclear industry, an award-winning apprenticeship programme. With over 10 years' experience managing Early Careers programmes across the UK, Energus finds talented apprentices for a range of prestigious employers and ensure a continuous pipeline of talent into the nuclear sector. The NDA group sustainably, safely and securely decommissions the UK's earliest nuclear facilities and preparing them for their next use. Our work ranges from reducing hazards at nuclear sites, to delivering a permanent Geological Disposal Facility for radioactive waste and transporting nuclear materials globally. We also have a unique role supporting delivery of the Government's sustainability aspirations to achieve and investing in social impact programmes to support the communities around our sites.

Your journey

The NDA group put your development and growth first, and we pride ourselves on our commitment to providing a supportive work environment. Whilst you will be employed by Energus, you will work within the NDA to develop your overall business knowledge through providing administrative support to your team. This role is diverse, and varied, and will require you to develop your existing abilities whilst learning new skills. This will centre on providing high quality, confidential, administrative services such as

  • drafting correspondence and reports

  • managing shared email inboxes and coordinating responses

  • managing data and utilising a range of tools (e.g. excel)

  • taking and sharing accurate minutes of meetings, and following up on any action points

  • arranging meetings, workshops and conferences

  • keeping documents up to date and storing in line with good records management practices

  • being a point of contact for enquiries and visitors (via email, 'phone and in-person)

  • co-ordinating and booking accommodation and travel requests

  • providing support to team members with IT and equipment queries

  • coordinating and preparing presentations for key stakeholders

  • effectively communicate with a range stakeholders of varying levels within and across organisations


  • As you grow into your role, you'll be able to foresee colleague and stakeholder needs and ensure that you, your team and the NDA's overall business priorities are anticipated well in advance. Most importantly though, you'll have a courteous, efficient, and discreet manner and take pride in upholding the professional image and reputation of the NDA.

    You'll have at least grades 9 to 4 (A
  • to C) GCSE's in Maths and English. You'll be an excellent communicator, enjoy collaborating with others and will be responsive to customer needs. You'll need to be organised and bring a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. You must have good verbal and written communication skills along with a high attention to detail and good organisational skills. You should also adapt well to change with a willingness to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by the programme.

  • A starting salary of £16,500 per annum
