Mobile Pallet Truck Engineer

We require a mobile hand pallet truck engineer to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for repairing and servicing hand pallet trucks, plus other mechanical handling equipment. The majority of this work is carried out on customer sites, therefore the successful candidate will require a full driving licence, as they will be driving a company vehicle. Although based in County Durham, the candidate will be expected to travel outside this area on a regular basis. The majority of the work will be carried out alone.

The candidate will be expected to assess, diagnose and repair the equipment, to ensure this is safe for the customer to use. They will be expected to adhere to customers Health & Safety rules whilst on their premises. They will also be expected to complete job sheets via an electronic Android tablet.

Previous experience of this nature is not an absolute requirement, as training will be provided, but the candidate does need to show knowledge and experience of basic mechanics and use of hand tools, as well as being able to use an Android device.
Good communication skills, an ability to work on their own or part of a small group is also required. The candidate will need to be able to converse with the customers, keeping them updated with the status of the works being carried out.

The role does include a significant amount of driving and although this is predominantly Monday to Friday, occasional Saturday working may be required, as may an occasional night away from home (hotel accomodation will be provided in this case). Overtime is available and may be required.
