Full Job Description

  • To nurture the children and promote the development of the whole person (body, mind and spirit).


  • To develop knowledge of a range of learning support needs and to develop an understanding of the specific needs of the pupils you are to support.


  • Develop skills in providing safe, stimulating play to meet the social, linguistic, creative, physical, imaginative and emotional needs of each child.


  • Write down relevant observations or comments the child has made. Contribute to the child's Early Years profile with observations and photos.


  • To encourage acceptance and inclusion of all pupils.


  • To establish a supportive and good working relationship with the pupils concerned.


  • To encourage positive behaviours in pupils using clear behaviour management strategies, setting clear boundaries and modelling effective behaviours


  • To support the health, safety and wellbeing of pupils, encouraging independence and self help skills, good standards of personal hygiene, good manners and social skills through specific modelling and teaching


  • To support pupils during meal and snack times, encouraging good manners and healthy eating


  • To assist children with personal hygiene issues e.g. toileting, changing clothes


  • Support with school duties on a rota basis


  • To be positive, fully committed, and to support the ethos and direction of the school wholeheartedly.

    As our Apprentice EYFS practitioner you will be a strong team player working in a diverse setting, communicating well with staff and children and promoting good relationships with our families. You will be passionate about child development and able to motivate and inspire children aged between 3-5 years old in our Nursery and Reception Class., Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard for the Early Years Educator

  • Functional Skills in English and maths if required

  • End Point Assessment: Observation with Questioning & Professional Discussion, Communication skills, IT skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Problem solving skills, Administrative skills, Number skills, Team working, Initiative, Patience, GCSE or equivalent English (Grade A-C/9-4) Desired

  • GCSE or equivalent maths (Grade A
  • -C/9-4) Desired, Desired skills and Personal qualities continued:- Computer literate, excellent interpersonal skills, strong organisational skills, be able to work independently and take initiative, ability to build effective working relationships, work within a team to identify best practice, be prepared to adapt your practice to ensure each child makes progress, excellent time management, positive and forward thinking, think creatively to solve problems, patient and caring approach, efficient, willing to contribute to the school community, high standards and expectations, ability to work in a team, able to motivate pupils and colleagues, enjoy the company of children, a sense of humour and enjoyment at work.   • This role is term time only and therefore the advertised salary is pro-rata based on the term-time only nature of this role.
