Full Job Description

Will you be a current University of Leeds undergraduate or postgraduate student during the 2024/25 academic year?
Do you have a passion for promoting physical activity? Do you have excellent organisation and coordination skills with the ability to plan and prioritise work effectively?
The University of Leeds Sport and Physical Activity strategy aims to enable more of the University of Leeds community to benefit from the positive impacts of sport and physical activity. This is through three pillars: health and wellbeing, development and potential and sense of belonging.
Contributing to work across all three pillars, we are looking to recruit part time activators to support the delivery of the Get Out, Get Active programme.
The Get Out, Get Active programme provides an inclusive, welcoming, safe and social environment for getting active. There is a focus on engaging typically less active students and staff with the aim to promote and foster the health and wellbeing benefits of an active lifestyle. The programme offers weekly sessions including walking, running and climbing. At weekends, there are walking trips to places such as the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District and Peak District.
You will have a drive and passion to make a difference to the health and wellbeing of others through physical activity. You will be responsible for co-ordinating, facilitating and hosting walking trips, among other sessions and events, engaging with a range of students and staff to drive and widen participation and retention. You will also develop strong volunteer groups to support the delivery and raise the profile of the Get Out, Get Active offer.
You will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business, which will include working evenings and weekends and working variable hours depending on the needs of the service.
This role is fixed term from 2 September 2024 to 31 August 2025. Hours of work will be variable to meet the needs of the service.
