Full Job Description

At this small service in Pencoed, we support 2 males in their early 20's. Both have autism and are very keen to learn new skills. In this pivotal role, you will be assisting and encouraging people in supported living to become integrated members of their local community, promoting physical and social interaction. In the case of these 2 gentlemen, that means joining them to enjoy long walks, swimming and many other outdoor activities. They like to keep busy and they love being out and about. Like rollercoasters? Theme parks? Well the both of the people supported here love a day out and like nothing more than a day at a theme park! Not all days will be quite that exciting, however you will be out in the local community, attending plenty of group and social activities. Both of our gents are keen to learn and are looking for someone that can encourage them to do this and someone that shows an interest in similar things.,

  • You will build a wonderful relationship with the people we support working with them to achieve their goal, supporting them in the community and helping them achieve their dreams.

  • As a Support Worker you will develop, implement, and review a range of individual support plans to enable the person that you will support to lead a fulfilling life.

  • You will provide support with a range of tasks which may include household and domestic tasks, shopping, diet/food preparation, personal care, personal hygiene, dressing and personal appearance.

  • As a Support worker we will support you in studying towards your QCF Level 2 Health and Social Care, which is completely funded by mirus.

  • You will work alongside other professionals such as care managers, community nurses and occupational therapists to deliver high quality support.

  • What we are looking for?

You may understand the issues associated with people with complex needs, but we will provide in depth training and coaching. Being a Support Worker takes bravery, patience, and commitment. If you share our values and are willing to make a difference, we'd love to hear from you!, Note: Due to the requirements of being a Support Worker, the successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check funded by mirus.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Positive Behaviour Support & Autism Worker to join our dedicated team based in Pencoed. You will be based at a service and you will be driving the vehicles of the people we support. As such, holding a full UK driving licence is mandatory due to the insurance terms set by the vehicle insurers.

mirus is a not-for-profit charitable organisation, working in partnership with the people they support, their families and other partners, to deliver high quality, person-centred support services for people with a disability. We have been supporting people in Wales for over 35 years and currently support over 350 people in ten different local authority areas.
