Location: Podsmead, Gloucester. The role is community focused in and around our work delivery spaces in Podsmead, Gloucester.

Are you a passionate believer in the power of hearing the voice of the people, and shaping the future of Podsmead ? Could you help people's voices be heard loud and clear in the Podsmead?

Hours - As a Community Development Worker, you must commit to working the following:

Part time - pro rata - 24 hrs per week, including some evenings and weekend work when required.

The role: In this role, you'll be an important point of contact between the community of people that live in Podsmead, The Podsmead Big Local Panel, Blackbridge CCBS staff and the BCCBS Board of directors. You will help to coordinate; opportunities for people to get involved in our projects and community discussions and community decisions that affect the future of Podsmead.

Responsibilities:

1. Work to a plan, with colleagues, and deliver the outcomes required by Blackbridge CCBS and Podsmead Big Local.

2. Engage daily with Podsmead residents on the street, get to know them, and learn to understand the families and people that live in Podsmead.

3. Engage the community into purposeful activities, help support residents' ideas, community clubs, and events that the community can enjoy and take ownership of.

4. Be willing to capture the community voice and inspire them to greater levels of engagement. Promote an understanding and participation in Blackbridge CCBS, and the Big Local, to local residents and explain how they might get involved.

5. Work in the community at times of day when residents are available, working towards the goal of knowing everyone and hearing everyone.

6. Be a key holder for the Hub and work with the business administrator to ensure bookings and activities are managed and maximised.

7. Liaise with other initiatives in the area so that Blackbridge CCBS can be a complementary service.

8. Work with the Big Local Partnership and Blackbridge CCBS in reviewing and updating the Legacy project which is currently gathering all the data from.

9. Attend all Podsmead Big Local panel and Blackbridge CCBS meetings and keep residents and partners informed of your work.

10. Maintain Monitoring and Evaluation records and work with business administrator to produce reports for funders, the PBL panel and the Blackbridge Board.

11. Attend appropriate training as requested/directed.

12.Work within Podsmead Big Local and Blackbridge CCBS Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, GDPR/data protection, and other policies.

13.Carry out any other duties as required, commensurate with the post, and depending on available time and resources.

Experience of working with people in a community setting.

Be passionate about ensuring people's voices are heard.

Have a good understanding of social media and will work with marketing staff on content and communications in relation to the role.

Demonstrate an understanding of policies and procedures related to community work.

Participate in relevant training and development identified in conjunction with Line Manager and funder requirements.

Be confident in communicating with others, including in groups
and public speaking settings.

Be able to coordinate, support and enable others to achieve agreed outcomes.

Ideally, but not essential, you'll also have:

Experience of carrying out projects in communities successfully.

Qualifications in relevant subjects related to community development.

RATE OF PAY: £25,000/£27,000 PRO RATA per annum depending on experience.

Contract: Part time - Permanent, subject to funding.
