Full Job Description

North Herts & Stevenage CVS is working in partnership with Age UK Hertfordshire and Hertfordshire County Council and other partners to make Hertfordshire an Age Friendly County - a great place to grow old and a place where older people are valued and respected. We are looking for a coordinator support the development and implementation of a County-wide action plan, which leads to a vision of being an 'Age Friendly Community', as recognised by the World Health Organisation. This work will build on the existing Age Friendly partnerships already in place nationally and provides an opportunity to create a legacy for this important work.

Purpose of the Job:

  • Work with and support the Age Friendly Lead to develop an Age Friendly strategy in association with a range of partners.


  • Support the Age Friendly Partnership Steering Group (Older People's Network) and develop an Age Friendly delivery plan with agreed timescales.


  • Build on existing partnerships and networks within Hertfordshire to engage with stakeholders to understand the current situation, identify priorities for action and ensure older people are fully involved in the development process and in all stages of implementation.


  • To demonstrate innovative collaborative working between statutory, health and third sector partners.


  • DUTIES

    Working directly with the Age Friendly Lead to:
  • Develop an action plan, ensure it remains on track and is delivered within agreed times.


  • Establish Age Friendly Partnerships(s) and working groups as required.


  • Engage stakeholders across community, voluntary and statutory sectors to build commitment, through attending meetings and establishing forums for regular consultation.


  • Establish means by which to engage with local people, raise awareness and interest in participating in the initiative.


  • Establish a baseline against the WHO Age Friendly checklist, using a range of sources, including engagement means and also existing data.


  • Research and coordinate policy development in line with this work.


  • Develop online/social media content and information relevant to the project and ensure this is kept updated and relevant with support from the Lead and Social Media Manager.


  • Prepare and present briefings and reports about Age Friendly, including progress against plans, at internal and external events


  • Liaise with the Centre for Ageing Better, World Health Organisation and other UK and International Age Friendly Communities as required - in order to learn and share best practice.


  • Produce written reports as required for internal management purposes as well as for wider external publication


  • Report against progress to all interested groups


  • Maintain a 'lessons learned' document to support and guide other areas wishing to progress an 'Age Friendly' assessment and programme of work.


  • Identify funding opportunities and secure necessary resources to support the work of the initiative.


  • To develop an understanding of the needs of older people which are not being fully met and feed this information into the ongoing development plans for our services, and to help us target funding bids to address these needs.


  • To assist with the evaluation of service feedback and ensure that relevant information is acted on by services and also used to develop future services.


  • Keep accurate records using the partnership's client management system.


  • Set up Network meetings and record minutes


  • Ensure all activities are delivered in accordance with agreed policies and procedures e.g. equalities and diversity, health and safety, confidentiality, data protection etc.


  • The post may involve very occasional weekend work (small number of events are held at weekends).
