Assistant Buyer

The role of the Assistant Buyer has become necessary to SMP due to the strategic uptake in its order book profile and position in its operating field. The Assistant Buyer position is required to support the procurement department within the office environment. As a junior role the position offers support training and career development through CIPS qualifications. The role will also require the person to be analytical with good computer and communication skills. Duties included in (but not limited to) this role as follows,

• Running reports extracted from the MRP system


• Updating the CRM system


• Contacting suppliers to ensure deliveries are on target


• Creating Purchase orders


• Control of call off items for office use


• Document archiving of historical data including invoice control


• Assisting the procurement department for any other duties as necessary
  
  Good level of GCSE's, General Office Administration, Willingness to learn and develop your skills within a procurement career.


• Experience in an Administration role or similar


• Experience in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.


• Experience with MRP systems would be advantageous but not essential. In-house training would be provided.


• Qualification to CIPS level 3 would be advantageous but not essential. CIPS training will be provided for the right candidate.


• Excellent communication skills; high level of verbal and written English.


• Organised multi-tasker. Good analytical skills.


• Candidate must be eligible to work and live in the UK
