Full Job Description

  • To assist in the setting up and clearing away of all activities and equipment.

  • To actively encourage children's progress in all areas of development and types and stages of play, through interaction and extension of play activities.

  • To be involved in activity planning and record keeping.

  • To attend training as requested including safeguarding, Paediatric First Aid, EYFS training and any other training.

  • To ensure high standards of hygiene and safety are maintained at all times.

  • To support the work and beliefs of the setting by helping to create an environment that promotes open and equal opportunities for children and adults.

  • To ensure that any information received concerning the children is kept confidential at all times.

  • To encourage the participation and involvement of all children attending the setting.

  • To be flexible with the working practices of the setting.

  • To be prepared to help in any areas of the setting with domestic duties or other duties as specified by the manager or owner.

    Orchidale Children's Nursery is looking for enthusiastic, caring, dedicated, and friendly individuals with good communication skills to join our outstanding setting. You will engage with children, playing and modelling, scaffolding and observing them whilst in play. You will receive full training and an in-house mentor to support you., Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification.

  • Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF).


  • For the End Point Assessment (EPA) apprentices will undertake a knowledge test and a professional discussion underpinned by the portfolio., Communication skills, Good listening skills, Good observational skills, Good writing skills, Commitment, Strong work ethic, Approachable and responsible, GCSE or equivalent English and Maths (Grade 4/ C (L2 Functional Skills)) Essential, Candidates must have at least GCSE grade 4/ C in English and Maths, or the Level 2 Functional Skills equivalent before they join the apprenticeship, otherwise they will not be accepted. Applicants who are currently undertaking or sitting GCSEs should include their predicted grades on their application. If successful for this position, you will be offered a conditional place on the apprenticeship, subject to you meeting the entry requirements listed above. The nursery apprentice role will cover all age ranges from 0-5 years- our preschool children are based outdoors, so a love of being outside is vital.

    Orchidale is an outstanding day nursery in Taverham. We are open all year around (closed one week at Christmas) and provide care for children from 0-5 years.

    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
