Full Job Description

The Club Volunteers will help support our members who have learning disabilities to enjoy weekly social and leisure activities on a weekly basis. This will include meals out, boat trips, cinema visits, night club, disco, panto, summer barbeques, Picnic in the Park, local pub visits, day trips, holidays, fundraising events and much more.

Overall

  • Attend club members' sessions on Monday or Wednesday evening (7 - 9 p.m.) once a week during term time (every month of the year except August).

  • Accompany and support members on day trips, holidays, and fundraising events (e.g. bag-packing at local supermarkets).

  • Provide appropriate support to the members during any activities they are engaged in.

  • Attend occasional club volunteer training sessions as and when required (generally this will take place on a week day evening and last 1-2 hours).


  • Specifically
  • Liaise with relevant support staff and other volunteers to ensure that the members receive the best available support whilst in the care of the charity.

  • Consult the documentation, such as the Club Register, to assist in providing the care needed to assist our members.

    The ability to work with, and support, people with a learning disability to enjoy the activities they are involved in.

  • Caring person showing empathy, encouragement, ideas and personal support.

  • Fun-loving with a good sense of humour.

  • Good common sense.

  • Effective communication and organisational skills.

  • Good at team working.

  • Patience, having the time to take to get to know someone.

  • Reliable.

  • Previous experience with people with learning disabilities would be useful, but not essential as training will be given.


  • You will be able to enrich our members lives , experience the pleasure our members take from our Club, make new friends and have fun partaking in various activities all in a rewarding environment.
